Once upon a time there lived an actor who knew how to stage performances of all kinds. He asked a rich householder for an ox. The householder did not even think of fulfilling his request and therefore told him this:
“If you can just as diligently continue your performances day and night without rest for a whole year, I will give you the ox.”
The actor replied that he could, but, in turn, asked whether the owner would be able to listen to him all this time. He also replied that he could.
When the actor heard all this, his heart rejoiced. For three days and three nights he did not show any weariness, and the householder finally got tired of listening to him. He ordered the household to take out the ox and give it to the actor.
