One widow had an only son. His name was Kdyzh. He was very stupid.
One day Kdyzh went to the forest to get firewood. Returning back, he found a needle on the road. Kdyzh picked her up and threw her onto the firewood. When Kdyzh arrived home, he said to his mother:
“On the way, I found a needle and brought it to you.”
- Where is she? - asked the mother.
“I threw it on the cart,” answered Kdyzh. The mother got angry:
- Stupid! Where have you seen a needle being carried on a cart?! She is stabbed on the chest! - she shouted to her son.
“Okay, I’ll remember this,” said Kdyzh.
Soon he left home on another matter. On the way, he saw an abandoned puppy, picked it up and began pinning it on his chest. While he was busy, the puppy died.
Kdyzh returned home, brought the puppy to his mother and told her about his failure.
- Unfortunate, where have you seen a puppy pinned to the chest?! They call him, and he runs after him! - the mother of her unlucky son began to reproach her with grief.
“I’ll remember another time,” said Kdyzh and went into the forest. In the forest he met a hare and began to call him affectionately, but
the hare got scared and ran away.
Kdyzh returned home and told his mother about this.
“Oh, you lost one,” cried the mother. “Do they call the hare?” He is killed by a shot or an ax blow.
“Okay, I’ll remember,” Kdyzh said and left.
On the way he saw people. These people plowed with bulls. Kdyzh threw the ax and broke the leg of one bull.
- Who gave birth to this fool?! - the people shouted, attacked Kdyzh and beat him until he was bruised.
Kdyzh returned home crying and told his mother about everything.
- Oh, you lost one! It was necessary to say: “Let your work continue!” - the mother got angry.
“I’ll remember another time,” Kdyzh answered and left the house again.
On the way, he saw that a woman was being buried.
- Let your work flourish! - Kdyzh shouted.
- May it not be good for you! Don't you see what we're doing?! - Those who accompanied the coffin shouted and drove Kdyzh away.
When he returned and told his mother about this, she told him:
- Oh, you fool! It was necessary to mourn the deceased.
“Okay, I’ll remember this,” said Kdyzh.
After that, he soon got to the wedding. Guests and hosts feasted, drank, and danced. Kdyzh immediately took off his cap and began hitting himself on the head and crying loudly.
- What are you doing? - the guests shouted. “Or did you come to the funeral?”
Everyone attacked Kdyzh, shouting: “Where did this fool come from? Get him out of here!” - and drove out of the yard.
Kdyzh returned home, told his mother about everything and added that he would not leave the house until his mother married him.
Mother promised:
- I will marry you if you prepare a lot of firewood.
“Okay,” said Kdyzh and began to carry firewood. Meanwhile, the mother dressed the wooden shovel in women's clothing and placed it in the amhara.
- Come here! - she called her son. - Enough work! I brought you a wife and left you in Amhara, just be careful, don’t go there until evening!
In the evening Kdyzh came to the amhara and pulled a wooden shovel towards him. The shovel fell with a crash and hit him hard on the forehead. Kdyzh came to his mother and began to complain to her. Mother said:
- Apparently, you failed to treat the girl as you should. So she got offended, decided that you were a fool, and left.
“If so, I will certainly find her and bring her back,” said Kdyzh and set off on his way.
He left home and never came back. They say that he is looking for his bride everywhere, but cannot find him.
