But he was completely alone, and there was no one to help him. The patient’s plea was so pitiful that the jug could not stand it. Compassion filled him. Making incredible efforts, he rolled up to the patient's bed, stopping right next to his hand. The patient opened his eyes, and his gaze fell on the jug. Gathering all his strength, the man took the jug and pressed it to his hot lips. And only now he realized that the jug was empty! Gathering his last strength, the patient threw the jug against the wall. It shattered into useless pieces of clay.
