One day Molla Nasreddin stopped by to see the kunak. A stream of smoke curled over the kunak's sakla, it smelled of pilaf and fried meat, and the hungry Nasreddin thought: “Thank Allah, it seems I came on time.”

- Salaam alaikum, kunak! - Nasreddin greeted.

“Vaaleikum assalam,” answered the kunak and quickly hid the cauldron with roast goose and pilaf under the ottoman.

The sharp-sighted Nasreddin noticed this, but did not show it and calmly began to answer the kunak’s questions.

Everyone dined on the meager remains of khinkal and cheese, and then the hosts put the guest to bed and went to bed themselves. Offended, Nasreddin did not sleep all night, but in the morning he got up and crawled on all fours to the ottoman. Carefully, he transferred the contents to his khurjin, returned to his bed and began to snore.

The next morning, the greedy owner put the same khinkal and cheese in front of the kunak and started a proper conversation about the weather.
