Once upon a time there was a man named Maung So. Among his fellow countrymen he was known as a simple-minded but ardent fellow. In reality, he was dishonest. However, when some kind of theft occurred in the village, it never occurred to anyone to suspect Maun So.
In the same village lived a rich man named Wu Lu Wa. He was greedy and cowardly, and besides, he loved to boast.
One dark night Maung So climbed into the rich man's house. Hearing some noise, the owner jumped out of bed, grabbed a dart kept under the bed and threw it to where, according to his assumption, the thief was hiding. The dart slid under Maung So's arm and pierced the door frame with a whoosh. Maung So ran away.
The very next morning, the whole neighborhood knew that thieves had broken into the rich man’s house.
The villagers gathered at the headman's house. U Lu Wa came there to tell how it happened. Maung So was also present there.
True to himself, Wu Lu Wa began to boast:
– A thief entered my house and wanted to steal my things. I could have killed him outright. However, I took pity on him and threw a dart at his leg, so that he barely escaped.
“Oh, you lying braggart,” Maung So, who had been listening patiently until now, stepped forward. “Your hands were shaking from cowardice, and your dart flew past, barely scratching my skin.” If you don't believe it, look! – said Maung So and lifted his shirt to confirm his words.
