One merchant was friends with a deaf man. It so happened that the merchant fell ill, and the deaf man went to visit him. On the way, the deaf man decided to himself:
“First I will ask him about his health, I will say: “How is your health, Sahib?” He will answer: “He is getting better!” Then I will say: “Thank God!” Then I will ask: “What are you eating?” He will answer: “Dry peas.” I will say: “Well, eat for your health!” And then I will ask him the following question: “Who is treating you?” He will answer: “Mirza so-and-so.” Then I will say: “Yes Allah will heal you with his hand!"
And so the deaf man came to the patient, greeted him, sat down next to him and began to question him:
- Tell me, friend, how is your health?
- Why ask? — the patient answered. “I’m burning like fire—I’m about to die.”
The deaf patient listened to him and said:
- Thank God! May the Almighty help you with this!
The poor patient was already almost finished off by illness, and these words made him feel even worse.
Then the deaf man asked:
- What are you eating, friend?
He replied:
- Nothing, I’m just swallowing dust.
- Well, eat for your health! - said the deaf man.
The patient becomes even more angry. Finally the deaf man asked:
- Listen, friend! Who is treating you?
Not himself with anger, the patient barked:
- Angel of Death!
“Excellent!” exclaimed the deaf man. “May God strengthen the healing power of his hands!”
